In developing regions, families caring for children on the autism spectrum, especially girls, often face severe social stigma, economic hardship, and a lack of support systems. To help parents care for their children, we partner with talented artisans in developing countries, connecting their exceptional handmade crafts from woven baskets and textiles to intricate carvings and jewelry—to global markets. Every handcrafted piece sold serves a greater purpose, turning traditional craftsmanship into an engine for dignity, empowerment, and independence.

Our vision is to empower 1,000 autistic girls to live decent, dignified lives where their primary needs- nutrition, shelter, safety, and healthcare are reliably met. We aim to nurture their potential, cultivate self-reliance, and create an inclusive world where every girl on the spectrum is valued, supported, and given room to thrive

Our Why

Some hungers you never forget.

I grew up in Kenya, where you never took a meal for granted; you hoped for it. When I moved to the United States, those memories slowly softened. Life has a way of making you forget.

It took a trip across the world to bring it all back.

I was in India for medical reasons, and the path to a test room led me past a ward of local families. I glanced in and haven't been able to unsee it since: beds pushed together with barely a breath between them, children on the autism spectrum, and beside each child, parents folded onto a single small bed holding their little ones through the night, having traveled so far to seek help for kids the world too often overlooks.

I felt two things at once. Gratitude so heavy it nearly buckled me. And fear, the clear, cold understanding of how thin the line is between having enough and having nothing, and how impossible that line can feel for a family raising a child on the spectrum with so few resources.

Then the faces came to me: families I grew up with back home, doing their best with almost nothing. No specialists. No programs. No one to tell them their child was worthy of patience, investment, and hope.

Standing in that crowded corridor, I knew I could never go back to forgetting. One question stayed with me:

What can I do to help?

That question is where AM Design Spectrum was born, and it's the heart of everything we do. Every girl on the spectrum deserves to be seen, supported, and given room to thrive. We're here to make sure she is.
